One of the biggest concepts I feel my kiddos struggle with this year is Informational Text Comprehension. So, I have been using my Informational Text Pack to review our strategies and get extra practice. It has been going wonderfully! I have noticed such a difference in their ability to quickly identify key details and main idea, and improve upon so many other strategies.
Today we worked on Chronological Order of Text. Here are some pictures of what we did:
I pull up the first worksheet for each standard in the pack and we do it together as a class on the Smartboard. I color coded our "trigger words" and showed how they create events on the timeline.
Students worked hard in pairs on the practice/review activity to reinforce what we did together. I had almost 90% of my kiddos get a 6/6 on the comprehension questions that followed. I was so proud! :)
In celebration of my kiddos continuing to improve, and to ease a little test anxiety you may have, my Informational Text Pack and Teaching Nonfiction Text features items are both 20% off in my TPT store today and tomorrow! So head on over and shop :)
Don't forget to link up for this great linky!

Thanks for linking up! I love projecting things on the board to do together like this. Sadly the actual smart board is no longer smart so I have to project onto the whiteboard. It loses the "coolness" factor then!
