Computer and Internet Safety

IT'S HERE IT'S HERE!!!

These are the echoes of my students after I told them Friday we would be starting our Living Wax Museum projects.

I wanted to stop by and share what we will be doing this week and give you a little freebie!

One of the 4th grade standards requires students to conduct a research assignment with adult guidance. Now I don't know about you, but this has always seemed like a daunting standard to teach! Two years ago I came up with a solution: A Living Wax Museum.

This has quickly become the most talked about event in 4th grade. My students ask me about it all year!

I never just launch the project, though. I spend at least 2 days talking about computer safety and Internet safety.
We take a "pretest" for both concepts, and I use these pretests to figure out what I need to touch on the most, and what the kiddos already know.
We go through basic rules of using a computer, and safety using the Internet. It gives them a great baseline to start their projects!!

You can download this for free for a limited time by clicking either of the pictures above or clicking here.

I will stop by and share more as our projects progress! :)

I'm linking up with my BBB, Holly, for Tried it Tuesday (a day late, I know, but our Internet was down with all of the snow!)

  1. We had a student teacher in our building a couple of years ago do the living wax museum with a 5th grade class. Kiddos loved it, parents loved it...very cute! Have fun! :o)
